Historic Sites of Lumio

Just a few minutes from Calvi, Lumio shows another side of Corsica. Calmer, more rugged. This village clinging to the hillside overlooks the sea with simplicity. Here, history can be felt in the stones, narrow streets, and forgotten paths. People come to Lumio to walk, explore, and breathe, far from the noise.

The abandoned village of Occi

It is the most striking site in Lumio. To get there, expect a 30 to 40-minute walk from the village. The trail gently climbs through the maquis shrubland to the ruins of an old hamlet abandoned in the 19th century.

On site : stone walls, a restored chapel, and a panoramic view of the entire Bay of Calvi. The place is deserted, silent, and impressive.

The Heart of the Village

Lumio is best explored on foot. You’ll find a simple yet well-preserved baroque church, a few fountains, narrow alleys, stairways, and hanging terraces with sea views. Here, no crowds — just hidden details to discover around every corner.

The Port of Sant’Ambroggio

Below the village, Sant’Ambroggio is a small, modern marina. The atmosphere is livelier in summer, with a few waterfront restaurants. It’s also a starting point for boat trips and water activities.

✨ Come and discover Lumio

Lumio doesn’t try to impress. It simply offers another way to experience Corsica — more discreet, more authentic. Between sea and mountains, between past and present, this village invites you to slow down. A unique place to see, to walk, to feel.
